Born and raised, this is not a new tradition to me. I've gone to the derby my entire life. There is a certain sense of pride that comes along with it ESPECIALLY when we sing my old ky home before the race runs on the first saturday of may. The past couple years have been a bit different. Instead of pregaming in fields and bussing it to the infield at the track, the past couple years Ive been sitting at the track both days with my dad in his corporate tent/box and attending the vip events for in touch.
After a long night at one oak wed, and a long day of traveling thursday, i was anxious to land in louisville. Mike and i were greeted by my best friend of many years who drove us downtown to meet my dad. Downtown louisville has ONE street with a ton of bars and clubs on. Its NO nyc, but for louisville, it's cool. Samantha Ronson was at first djing the street, litteraly just on a stage in the street. We get there, immediately (this is why i love life) in another state, get media passes and vip wrist bands to avoid all covers at the bars. We are then immediately met out front by my handsome dad who's waving his hand in the air. He grabs my hand (he likes to show me off) and leads the three of us to the back of this club where he and his friends are doing SHOTS-welcome home haha. So we get shit faced with my awesome dad, the best part is (this is nothing new btw) I had to cover a Sam Ronson party at a club on that same street at 2 am. This was supose to be somewhat of a VIP situation (although nothing in ky is really vip lol)....walked in with my DAD, mikealis, abby, and my dad's driver (total redneck) and it was so funny. Mikealis got a picture with sam (who has the MANLIEST voice ever) and i somehow made it back in the escalade to the hotel by 3 am. The track Friday was great. Dad has us all set up in a company tent where it's cattered and open bar all day. From there you can bet in privacy and avoid lines, then you can walk back and fourth from the box track side (To watch the races) and the corporate tent. well we always lose alot of money, the oaks was no different. Dad and I probably lost...nevermind a number, alot. Friday night was the annual Barn Stable Brown Gala. It's a famous party thrown the night before Derby every year. IT's a star studded event in the home of a very wealthy family in Louisville. It's transformed into a black tie celebrity ball with cattering and live performances. Dad's driver scooped mike and i, dad and his date, and the couple dad took as guests. we got to the gala and immediately were lead to our table which had unlimited grey goose bottles and moet all night. we got wasted. at some point i saw my dad jumping up and dad when kid rock performed. boyz II men performed....a bunch of others. paris hilton looked great...i ate the chocolate fountain..mike caught eli mannings football and took pic with him....dad was wasted so we left the gala and headed to another party i was suppose to attend down town. The best part was i got to invite my two best friends with me (i grew up with 5 girls only). we got wasted and had a blast. The next morning at the Derby, i was a bit....hungover. At the track, I tried to bloody mary it away. The derby was amazing. The long shot horse had my same birthday...so i felt good about him. Ive been betting on horse racing since I was 10. I don't usually make stupid bets but this was a stupid bet. I bet the longshot horse (50-1 odds) 10$ to win (along with some other smart bets) because i shared the same birthday as this horse. Therefore me dad, his best friend, and some others all bet on the same horse.... The derby is known as the most exciting 2 minutes in sports, and it really is. At first he was dead last---you couldn't even see him. When a random horse broke away and won by a longshot, we were all sorta like who was that?. it was 8. it was my horse. we now knew we were rich, and began to freak the fuck out. The horse paid a ton its odds were aweful. so fun. that night we went to the GREENHOUSE party *yes nyc greenhouse* that was thrown at prime in downtown louisville (after an amazing fun dinner with dad and company). The guys running it were all nyc people it was so fun! Michael Phelps came to his table up in the VIP, where we were, and then asked to be moved!!! to the common section!! SO HE COULD GET ATTENTION---SUCH A MEDIA WHORE. Then joey fatone was fat. Then, we got wasted.

after a long sunday of recovery and the best catch up night sunday night with my best friends ever (They showed mike pics of me...it was bad) we got back late last night.

Im so lucky to have such fun family and to be a part of this tradition, born and raised, super lucky.

back to reality. We have some VERY exciting big projects coming up that involve bravo tv so stay posted.

mike starts promoting one oak this week too.
